Grub

For Grub copy this splash.xpm.gz file to /boot/grub/ or what ever you have specified in the grub.conf file (see line: splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz)

GDM

Unpack this lf-gdm-theme.tar.gz file in /usr/share/gdm/themes (or where your themes directory for gdm is) and then run gdmsetup and choose the lf theme.
